Some thoughts about Sarah Palin’s debut as a Fox news host.

——————
Sarah Palin has a TV show that I accidentally watched a few days ago. And it was…interesting. I mean, it was weird because you’d think that Fox News and Sarah Palin should be a perfect fit. Fox News is really into being petty, and hateful, and distorted, and disingenuous, and Sarah Palin is awesome at all of those things. She’s like the Golden Child of petty hatefulness. So it should be a match made in heaven, it should be like Lebron coming to the Knicks (sound clip of choir intoning “Amen”).
But somehow it’s not. Because for some reason Fox News is not letting Sarah Be Sarah.
Sarah Palin on Fox News should be like the Star & Buc Wild/MissJones/Wendy-Williams of punditry. It should be like Hatefest 2010. Hater-palooza. Hatenik.
But this show is not that, at all. This show is just Sarah Palin doing these bland, heartwarming voice-overs on top of feel-good puff pieces that Fox already had in the vault from like two years ago. It’s like she’s hosting an infomercial for “The Secret” – except now, The Secret is blind patriotism.
And that’s not what I want to see from Sarah Palin. I don’t want to see her being “positive” and “heart-warming” – I want to see the usual Sarah Palin we know and love. The one who pretends to be positive and heart-warming when she’s actually straight hating on everybody. I wanna see that “golly-gee, aw-shucks,” folksy passive-aggressiveness. That sassy anti-intellectualism. The seething venom just barely contained behind that beauty-pageant smile. I want to see the hate!
Why won’t Fox let Sarah hate and be great?! I don’t understand it, and it’s frustrating to me because I really want Sarah Palin to win at this. I think it would be good for the country if Sarah Palin had a hit show. I mean first of all, it would give her a chance to take all the tea-partiers’ scary, racist, violent-threat hate, and redirect it back into her brand of superficial, petty, Dave Chappelle Hater’s Ball hate. That right there would make the world a little safer.
And beyond that, I just really believe that America needs Sarah Palin to be successful on television. America needs Sarah Palin to have a smash hit full-time career in media, that would keep her far away from elected office or any other active role in our government whatsoever. So Fox News, I am asking, for the good of our nation, please. Let Sarah hate and be great.

“America needs Sarah Palin to have a smash hit full-time career in media, that will keep her far away form elected office or any other active roll in our government whatsoever. ”
Amen!
NO, we want Sarah in politics (at least for 2012) as it will make sure that the republicans have no change in hell of winning. Having her run for president will disrupt and tear apart the Republican party so much that it will take decades for them to recover.
Please Do Let Sarah Hate and Be Great!!!! If it keeps her out of office and any role in the government!!!!
I’m gonna raise my hand to disagree on this one.
Rather than minimizing Palin’s influence by keeping her on TV, I think it will maximize it. With a national show, she has a greater chance of galvanizing people to contact their representatives and sway policy than she ever could if she were in office.
Instead, if Palin truly resonates with a large number of Americans, I say let’s put her in a government role where she’ll be actually accountable for her rhetoric. It’ll hurt for a bit, but it’s basically the free market solution for political ideas. If they die in practice, then the policy market has spoken.
Your videos continuously give me LIFE!!! Please let Sarah Hate and be Great!
I was nodding along with your take but then a cat popped up at :26 and I had to spend the remainder of the video looking frantically around for it to reappear. Where’d you go Chairman Meow?
Two thumbs up! Definitely feeling the switch from Ill Doctrine to Nil Doctrine. Much love from Canada.
If only being a television star actually did keep people out of politics.
Yeah, Sarah, sure…but if they allow her to really be Sarah then she would either be exorcised on air by a black African preacher or quit in the middle of her contract.
To more important things Smooth:
When you say “from the makers of Ill Doctrine;” what does that mean exactly? I mean i thought you and only you did all the work…unless the cat helps you out. You gonna give a credit roll soon or what?
LOL I agree, let Sarah Palin “hate and be great” so she can stay far far …… FAR from politics
Nice one.
The scary thing is that being on TV — Fox especially — doesn’t remove one from active politics at all. Consider the amount of political influence Fox wields over large portions of the electorate!
I feel you on Sarah Palin…but the LeBron thing, nah!
(Disclosure: I am from Cleveland)
Great vid, loved the Chappelle ref.
“We are the time haters, reach for the sky, honkey!”
Peace from Stockholm.
LeBron is not coming to the knicks
