A little followup to the interview I posted yesterday, cuz I felt like one of the answers didn’t come out quite right.

Oh, when Amanda Diva responded to your answer, I was “But that’s not what he … but it’s what you heard. Oh dear.” Let us know if it doesn’t appease anyone who was offended, because it seems like how I would have handled it.
Now stop doing anything other than making a video where you talk about Shirley Sherrod and what’s up with the Obama administration’s handling of it.
I don’t think you needed to explain yourself. Your videos all show you to be as devoid of patriarchal arrogance as it is possible for any man to be. That said, I’m glad you clarified, because, well…I’m just happy to see a video of you saying anything you want to say because I am always astounded by your amazing clarity and logic in a world where too many people just spew garbage.
And since I know you are thinking about topics for future videos – I’d love to hear your take on Steve Harvey and all the women who thinks he’s the new relationship guru.
my concern about the interview was with these formats (including now tv news) that treat folks like lebron and chad in the same way that they treat palin, cause palin might be acting but her reality shows are shaping public policy and this blurring of gossip/entertainment and politics is frightening in terms of the quality of our civic conversation.
Hee. That’d be fun, being you on the Patriarchy’s Permission-Giving Committee. You would be all “Yes. Sure thing. Oh yeah. Granted. Absolutely. Great plan. Do it! Hmm-hmh. Yep. For certain” all day long. You could do finger guns, to be sure it really counted.
Whoopi is such an aunt tom
Hear, hear! One Steve Harvey is most certainly enough. I would also like to encourage you to get crackin’ on the Sherrod video. You know you wanna.
Aw, thanks for the apology! I knew that wasn’t what you meant, but the clarification is still appreciated, since there are so many people who behave and think that way. I never thought you were an evil tool of the patriarchy, I promise.
I’d like to echo the people who have mentioned that this was probably unnecessary but is still much appreciate.
Personally, I’m just glad to get some clarification on who the hell Chad Ochocinco is.
Hey! Ombudsman! Sure hope you know that word is directly taken from the swedish language!
Anyway it’s good to see you’re getting back to making vids again.
Peace from Stockholm
I love everything you have to say about anything…which sounds slightly creepy now that I’ve read it back, But I’m sure that I’m not alone in my thoughts. It’s not just what you say and how you articulate things that makes you so likeable, but also how modest you are.
Keep doing what you’re doing.
can I just through something in I’ve been thinking. maybe what I’m about to say is racist, I really am not sure, which is never a good start.
but this isn’t about racism is it really, the problem we’re dealing with worldwide is the immense repercussions of the abolition of slavery, I mean isn’t it? what I mean to say is the people who shipped slaves over to america weren’t racists, they were capitalists, they would have just have happily shipped white people, yellow people or any other colour, they were slaves, and at that time that was ok, or at least it seemed ok then. then we had the abolition of slavery swelling out into the world (not having quite reached some corners) and suddenly these ’slaves’ were just regular people, and some white people reacted by feeling overwhelmed with shame and just not wanting to admit the fact it ever happened ‘white liberals’ and some people wanted to deal with it by acting like they didn’t fuk up ‘white racists’ and then you had a whole bunch of black people just trying to get along as best they can in this fukt up situation. I mean this is to over simplify the end scenario, and the beginning for sure, but I feel some people try and disconnect racism from slavery and act like this is where it ends and we’re already there, rather than dealing with the fact that humanity as a whole has only recently stopped being really really evil, I mean bush was evil, but what most people considered normal only a few hundred years ago is really out there. hung and quartered in public? we need to stop looking at this as something that is old, and dirty, and realise this only just happened and we need to talk about it.
